Sometimes a decoy isn’t enough. A duress vault opens like any other and, in the same moment, removes the patterns of every other vault on the phone. There is nothing left anyone can force you to open.

How it works
- 01
Choose a vault
Open the vault you would hand over under pressure, and go to its settings.
- 02
Turn on Duress vault
Sigilock asks you to confirm, because the patterns it removes can’t be brought back by drawing them.
- 03
Draw it when it counts
Opening it removes every other pattern on this phone. The other vaults stay encrypted and come back with their recovery phrases.
When a decoy isn’t enough
A decoy works when someone believes it. Under real pressure, someone might not stop at the first vault: they may demand every pattern you know. Duress mode answers that by making sure there are no other patterns left to give.
You mark one vault as your duress vault. Drawing its sigil opens it normally, and at the same moment Sigilock removes the pattern slots of every other vault on the phone. From then on, no pattern, including yours, opens them on that phone.
What happens to your other vaults
Nothing is deleted. Your photos, videos, files and notes stay where they were, fully encrypted. What disappears is the part that lets a sigil open them. Each vault still has its own recovery slot, so once you are somewhere safe, its 12-word phrase opens it again and you draw a new sigil.
That is why your recovery phrases matter so much with duress mode on: keep them away from the phone, where nobody can make you hand them over on the spot.
Quiet
The duress vault opens like any other. Nothing on screen gives it away.
Nothing left to open
Once triggered, no pattern opens the other vaults, not even yours.
Nothing lost
No files are deleted. Each vault reopens with its recovery phrase once you are safe.
Someone is standing over you and won’t take no for an answer. You draw your duress sigil. They see an ordinary vault, and your other vaults are now beyond anyone’s reach on that phone.
Duress mode, answered.

Does duress mode delete my photos?
No. It removes the patterns of your other vaults on that phone. The vaults stay encrypted and intact, and their recovery phrases reopen them.
Can I turn duress mode off?
Yes. Switch off Duress vault in the same vault’s settings at any time.
What do I do with my other vaults afterwards?
Open each one with its recovery phrase and draw a new sigil for it.
Will the person watching notice anything?
The duress vault opens like any other vault, with no message or animation that says duress mode was used.
Is duress mode a paid extra?
No. Duress mode is included in every plan, along with every other feature.
What if I open the duress vault by accident?
Your other vaults are safe, just locked to their recovery phrases on that phone. Use each phrase to reopen them and set new sigils.
Does it affect vaults on my other devices?
No. Duress mode acts on the phone where you draw it.
